Changes to Fence Bylaw

In April, 2018 SAHRA advised that the City of Toronto was reviewing Municipal Code Chapter 447 Fences.

The fence bylaw is a set of rules for all fences on private property in Toronto and has specific rules about pool fences to enhance safety around pools.  The City held a public meeting on April 4, 2018 to seek input from the public on the fence bylaw.

The Licensing and Standards Committee submitted Recommendations to City Council for General Fence Requirements , Change Pool Enclosure Requirements, Opt Out of Line Fences Act and Administrative Changes.  The Recommendations were approved by City Council on May 23, 2018.
