We have a population of 823 households – last year 122 households contributed (15%) whereas we have 506 subscribers to our eBlasts (61%). We hope that you find our eBlasts informative and helpful such that you would be willing to support our costs. We have on-line payment capability on our website or you can mail/drop off a cheque. Please see the attached Membership Form for links and details.
Pruning of Trees on Avenue Road
SAHRA submitted an inventory of the condition of 127 trees on the east and west sides of Avenue road between Joicey down to Lawrence to Councillor Colle’s office in Sept, 2019. This was in turn submitted to Urban Forestry for their review and scheduling of the appropriate pruning. We are pleased to report that pruning was initiated in late February. We look forward to reviewing the results of our hopefully healthier trees in the Spring.

TPS – Sexual Assault Alert – Man Arrested
SAHRA has a newly-developed policy to forward Toronto Police Service information to our members. The policy considers the risk to our residents based on the type of crime and how close the crime’s location is to our neighbourhood. The policy includes forwarding the following when it occurs anywhere in 32 Division (Steeles to Lawrence, Bayview to the train tracks just west of Caledonia Road): sexual assault, stabbings and neighbourhood crime rates. Most other important crimes are forwarded if they occur within Sheppard to Lawrence and Yonge Street to Bathurst. There are two exceptions: homicides and shootings. We expect that these will be covered by the media. Should you have any questions or comments regarding the policy, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
At present, we receive only sexual assault news releases from the police. We are looking for a volunteer to monitor the police’s Twitter account for other posts which then would be forwarded based on our policy. We expect the time commitment would amount to 5 – 10 minutes per day.
As per the policy, since the alert below is related to sexual assault and occurred within 32 Division, we are reporting it to you.
