Iodide Pills
The Neighbourhood Watch Online program has been informed that since we are roughly 40 km from the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station here in the GTA, our residents are eligible to order iodide pills free of charge. Iodide pills help to protect against thyroid cancer in the event of a nuclear/radioactive events in or around Toronto. Help make your street safer through Neighbourhood Watch Online!
Neighbourhood Watch is back with a new “new, improved” format! Originally, Neighbourhood Watch used landlines for communication. Today, Neighbourhood Watch Online (NWO) uses electronic communication, such as email. Some pockets within SAHRA’s boundaries are already active – if you live in one of those areas, you’ll already know about NWO. We need volunteers to act as Group Captains in areas not yet covered. We estimate the time commitment as a few hours to set up the group and then minimally after that to co-ordinate a few communications per month. We provide training and documentation. Join Mosaic and Armour Heights Church for the next Community Café to welcome Diana Oliver from Urban Poling on Tuesday, January 28th from 10:30 to 11:30 am. This round table discussion and free presentation will include pointers on how to stay safe this winter. Falls risk reference material will be provided. Light refreshments.
