We continue to see great improvement on both auto theft and house break-and-enters for 2025. In fact, there we no incidents in these two categories during April.
AUTO THEFT
To the end of April, we experienced two auto thefts in 2025 compared to seven over the same period in 2024. The chart below illustrates the history for years 2023 to 2025. If we continue this improvement path, we should be at pre-COVID levels for 2025. To put the improvement in perspective, in the full year 2022 we experienced 34 auto thefts.

BREAK AND ENTER – HOUSES
To the end of April, we experienced three house break-and-enters in 2025, all in February. In the same period 2024, we experienced 6 house break-and-enters.

CITY OF TORONTO
Although our focus is on SAHRA’s neighbourhood, we do look at data for the City of Toronto as a whole. All major crime indicators are showing improvement from the activity experienced in 2024, except for Theft Over $5000 which is up 11.6%. The improvements are due to many successful prosecutions and higher visibility of police, with the addition of many new officers. The police service plans to add 540 recruits by the end of 2026. More specific to auto theft, there is a dramatic reduction across the City. Incidents to the end of April are down by 36.7% compared to last year. In addition to the reasons mentioned above, the reduction is attributable to the auto theft work being carried out by agencies at the municipal, provincial and federal levels. Break and Enters are down by 13.9%. The snapshot below of the Toronto Police Public Safety Data Portal illustrates the comparison between 2024 and 2025, to the end of April.
